Preparing for the Shoot

In preparation for the shoot we needed to do the following : -

  1. Book the equipment
  2. Arrange times and dates for actors
  3. Gather props and costumes
  4. Check availability of locations
The first thing on the list (booking equipment) was easily prepared for using the booking equipment page on the blog where we could book any equipment which we felt we needed, as long as it was available on the date needed. So once we had chosen a date and time we would go onto this page and select all the equipment we would like to take out and when we were going to return it. I was usually in charge of this and making sure it was returned the was I was when taken. Here is a screenshot of what the booking equipment page looked like and one of the bookings I made.

Arranging dates and times was done in the research prior to the start of the shooting stages as we created a shooting schedule of both when the production team are free and the days we are filming. the schedule of when the production team was free was more so we could arrange other shoots if necessary and also to see who would be able to come into the media suite to do some more planning of other parts of the course.

Gathering props was generally prepared a couple of days before shoots these props are all listed in our props research so we can see which things we need and we can also check the costume research to advise actors on what they need to wear and we would gather any of the costume which they didn't have. We have sourced so far the pen, glasses to smash, coats, wedding dress, jewellery, makeup, hair accessories, etc.

Checking availability of locations varies for which location we are filming at. If we are filming at the office corridor then we need to get permission off the teachers at school who work in the offices to film there. With the train station we needed to check the times of the trains so we know when there are going to be no trains passing by as the lead female is meant to be late for the train and the house, which is my own, was available to us whenever we needed to shoot there.
