Production Team

I am going to now be showing, who is in my production team and how each person has an important role to play with in the team as i underline their strengths. I shall then discuss our production name saying what it means and what our ident looks like.

Our production teams were formed after each media student presented a small pitch of their short film ideas. Once we had done our pitches we were then asked questions to do with the following-
  • Is the idea realistic? (Would we be able to make it and will it look realistic and effective)
  • Does it follow the conventions of a short film? (Small cast, low budget, everyday situation)
  • Will it be possible to source everything needed? (Props, actors, location)
At the same time I had to make sure my intentions were clear and understandable so the way I presented it would help the audience gain an interest and  want to join my production team.

Afterwards we had to rate each pitch mostly based on whether you like their pitch and if you'd be able to work well efficiently together?

As a result of this small process I was placed in a production team alongside James Minton and Lauren Smith. As a collective we have decided to do individual blogs so we don't become too reliant on one another when it comes to posting. Here are the URLs to my production members blogs :

James's strengths which could become beneficial to the team would be his editing skills as he is comfortable with editing both sound and footage as he has a good knowledge of the programmes to do so.

Lauren's strengths would be spotting any continuity when filming and using the camera effectively, she is also good at directing cast on what they have to do, which can be very helpful.

My production team members have posted that i have the following strengths : -

James - 'Jordan's Advantage is clearly his directing skills and his camerawork. He seems to be very comfortable with it, and able to produce very complex shots with ease and also has good editing skills which could be useful when a second opinion is needed. His artistic taste also helps creating an extremely satisfying film.'

Lauren - 'Jordan's strengths are that he is artistic and creates easy to follow but detailed storyboards for us to refer back to if we get confused with a scene. He is also skilled with editing and camerawork.'

As we have worked together already, we seem a lot more organised as a group than last year which shows our strengths as a team by having good communication and being able to rely on one-another when we set individual tasks.

We have produced a list of tasks which we need to complete to be able to get to our finished product. We have put these in the order which we believe they should be done and we are going to follow this closely and check things off once they have been fully completed.

Media Studies Checklist
As we are in the same production group as last year we have decide to stick with the same production name of 'Jardin' which is the French word for 'garden'. This being said 'Jardin' can represent the way in which not only how we grow as a team but how our ideas start of small (e.g. Planting the seed) then slowly developing our ideas until it turns in to our final finished idea/media product. Here is the ident which we created, we have used a similar house style to spyglass pictures so that we follow conventions of existing productions.

Now that I have introduced you to my production team for this short I can now show you each of our film ideas and which one we ended up choosing.
